Grunt Work<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Alright, this is a fairly broad category but it truly encapsulates the sorts of easy Upwork jobs that are out there.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, some clients on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/mturk-alternatives\/\">websites like MTurk<\/a> and Upwork are willing to <strong>pay for people to do tasks they just don't have time or patience to do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Oftentimes, these are\u00a0<em>lower\u00a0<\/em>paying, labor intensive jobs that&#8230;well&#8230;kind of suck. However, for a beginner Upwork job, this could be what you're looking for.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Take a look at this example job I found today<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8235 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/easy-Upwork-task.png\" alt=\"easy-Upwork-task\" width=\"599\" height=\"266\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This gig involves finding 60 small and medium finance bloggers and putting them intro a spreadsheet&#8230;pretty straightforward.<\/p>\n<p>There's proposals on it, so it's a competitive one, but if you were quick and pitched $10-$15 (to be under budget) you might get the job.<\/p>\n<p>Upwork is, unfortunately, sometimes a race to the bottom this way, but this is part of the growing pains.<\/p>\n<p>Another easier Upwork job I found that pays more just requires you to post pre-published articles for a newsletter:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8236 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/another-easy-gig.png\" alt=\"another-easy-gig\" width=\"602\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These kinds of simple tasks are\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>over Upwork, so do some digging and don't be afraid to bid aggressively to get some testimonials.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Location-Based_Jobs\"><\/span><strong>2. Location-Based Jobs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Upwork is a competitive marketplace. However, <strong>one easy way to reduce your competition pool is to add location-based searches into your arsenal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For example, this client has spent over $300,000 developing a new walking tour app for a bunch of European cities.<\/p>\n<p>And, guess what: you can get paid to test out the app if you happen to live in one of the cities and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/fitness-apps\/\">get paid to walk<\/a> around for a while:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8237 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Upwork-walking-job.png\" alt=\"Upwork-walking-job\" width=\"599\" height=\"171\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This guy is also hiring 50 freelancers.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you can walk and live in one of the dozens of cities the app is in, you're golden.<\/p>\n<p>These sort of Upwork jobs pop up all the time. Sometimes people need a photographer, someone to interview, or a specific photo of something in a city.<\/p>\n<p>If you happen to live there, you just scored the easiest Upwork job ever!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Transcription_Gigs\"><\/span><strong>3. Transcription Gigs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Online transcription involves writing out the dialogue in audio files.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/transcription-jobs\/\">Online transcription jobs<\/a> are generally lower paying gigs unless you put in a lot of practice and actually use equipment like a transcription pedal and software to boost your accuracy and WPM.<\/p>\n<p>However, when it comes to Upwork jobs for beginners, transcription is a pretty commonly recommended route to try.<\/p>\n<p>After all, if you can type, you can technically complete a transcription gig (and with high accuracy if you actually take the time, provided the audio recording isn't terrible).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-19987 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Upwork-transcription-jobs.png\" alt=\"Upwork transcription jobs\" width=\"650\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Upwork is also full of transcription work, many of which advertise themselves as being beginner friendly.<\/p>\n<p>For example, I found two Upwork transcription jobs that you can see in the screenshot above. One is open to complete beginners and has a $4,000 total fixed project price, which is pretty lucrative.<\/p>\n<p>Again, these won't always be the highest paying gig, but they're another job people often want to outsource. However, <strong>you can search for specific languages in the search bar<\/strong> to find work for other languages you speak.<\/p>\n<p>This might lead you to doing translation work or simply ordinary Upwork-type jobs, just in another language.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the case, this is another way to earn from Upwork as a beginner, so leverage your competitive advantage!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Voice_Recordings\"><\/span><strong>5. Content Writing<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A lot of SEO-pros like to start <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/blog-niche-ideas\/\">niche blogs<\/a> and then outsource most of the article writing since they aren't skilled writers themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Oftentimes, this means they post article writing gigs on websites like Upwork to try and find writers.<\/p>\n<p>Now, if there's one thing I can tell you as a full-time freelance writer, it's that you probably\u00a0<em>don't\u00a0<\/em>want to depend on Upwork for your long-term writing aspirations.<\/p>\n<p>Ideally, things like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/is-blogging-worth-it\/\">starting your own blog<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmonkey.com\/medium-writing\/\">writing on Medium<\/a> can help you craft a portfolio and pitch editors directly to get better paying gigs.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you want to start making money on Upwork as a beginner, cheap content writing work is as easy as it gets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro Tip<\/strong>: just make sure you apply for jobs that are actually completable and fast so you can get reviews on your profile.<\/p>\n<p>Some Upwork clients hire for positions like ebook writer or even full on ghost writing for novels.
