May 2018 Blog Traffic and Stats<\/strong><\/h1>\nWell, I knew it would happen eventually, but May was actually the first month in which I experienced a decrease in blogging traffic.<\/p>\n
However, all this does is increase my motivation to produce more content, promote WebMonkey, and grow.<\/p>\n
All in all, May had just over 10k page views:<\/p>\n

On the bright side, session duration is increasing and bounce rate is decreasing, so viewers are slightly more interested, it would seem!<\/p>\n
Ultimately, I'm not too discouraged by the blog traffic for the month, and here's why:<\/p>\n

Organic traffic from Google keeps increasing every week, and I think this is the main metric I am interested in.<\/p>\n
Last month, I had a pretty awesome Quora Digest feature that was sent to 1 million readers, and I also spent a lot more time on Quora marketing<\/a> in general.<\/p>\nConsidering I had less time for promotional efforts this month, I'm happy to have almost matched the traffic numbers from April!<\/p>\n
That being said, I realize I need to keep on pushing for growth if I want it to occur.<\/p>\n
So, what else did the month of April contain?<\/p>\n
\n- I published 3 blog posts.<\/li>\n
- I wrote an additional 8,666 words.<\/li>\n
- I reached 40 email subscribers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
I'm struggling to put out more than a post a week due to the start of work and summertime weather being a never-ending distraction, but that might not be the worst thing in the world.<\/p>\n
After all, I'd rather publish 3-4 posts a month that I'm satisfied with than 7 posts I hate.<\/p>\n
In any case, I definitely want to publish at least 4 blog posts for the month of June.<\/p>\n
Additionally, I also finished my long-awaited plan of writing a guide on how to start investing and a guide on how to start a blog<\/a>, which is awesome!<\/p>\nI also expanded my phone farming content<\/a>, which seems to have already taken off well with Google.<\/p>\nA key point:<\/strong><\/p>\nGoogle is a slow-rolling but beautiful creature.<\/p>\n
For all you aspiring bloggers or content creators out there, trust the process.<\/p>\n
If you keep creating strong content, follow SEO best practices, and update your old content every now and again, your organic traffic will continue to increase over time.<\/p>\n
Blogging Income Report – Some Changes<\/strong><\/h2>\nI'm still on the quest to reach 25,000 monthly sessions to add Mediavine to WebMonkey, but the month of May still had some interesting changes in the income department!<\/p>\n
Firstly, and quite sadly, I've actually put my dropshipping store on hold for the time being.<\/p>\n
Starting a dropshipping business<\/a> and making a sale was great, but the time commitment and monthly Shopify fee are not feasible\/worth it at this point in time.<\/p>\nThe entire experience was immensely valuable.<\/p>\n
I learned about a different aspect of making money online, sourcing products, dealing with order fulfillment, and some new marketing ideas.<\/p>\n
I don't think this will be my last foray into the world of dropshipping, but it might be for some time.<\/p>\n
I have boatloads of other exciting money making ideas for the future, but next time, I will make sure I'm not biting off more than I can chew for the time being.<\/p>\n

I want to develop this blog into a viable income stream, and as long as advertisements don't interfere with page speed or user experience too much, I think they're alright.<\/p>\n
You can yell at me in the comments if you disagree with my choice, but I'm watching that bounce rate! So far, things seem fairly unaffected.<\/p>\n
So, how much money can you make with Google Adsense and Media.net?<\/p>\n

Ultimately, my RPM was pretty much $2 when everything is said and done.<\/p>\n
If you're a blogger with a large U.S.\/Canadian audience, you can probably expect something similar (or better, if you optimize ad unit placement).<\/p>\n

After all, if you've read my post on how to make money on Medium<\/a>, you'll know it isn't a bad source of income for writers.<\/p>\n
