When you are looking for things to sell to make money, you often don’t have to look further than your own closet.

We all have clothing that we no longer wear or no longer fits, so this is a great place to start. Some of the most popular brands to sell include:

I like Worthy since it sells pieces through online jewelry auctions. You get to work with an auction manager to decide on pricing, and Worthy handles everything from photographing your pieces to finalizing sales.

You can also try selling on Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp, but online sales generally fetch higher prices.

3. Electronics

Electronics are part of our daily life, and these high-end items can often easily be sold for cash. If you need money now, here are some of the electronics to sell or pawn:

• Video games and gaming consoles (especially an Xbox or PS5)

3. Mention Product Details: Mentioning information like brand, size, condition, and if you live in a pet or smoke-free home helps buyers make better decisions.
4. Communicate With Buyers: Always respond to buyer's questions quickly so you can lock in a sale before they move on.

SEO is a massive component of digital marketing. After all, it doesn't matter if you run a blog, ecommerce store, or brick-and-mortar business; getting more traffic from Google is usually a good thing.

SEO consulting is also how I've made a lot of my money since college. I started by landing some easy jobs on Upwork to get started, and I've earned over $10,000 on that platform to date:

When you know how to write articles with keywords and SEO best practices, you're more valuable. So, you can charge more and land more clients.

• A traffic report from SEMRush that includes information on backlinks.

Listings also show the current price, views, how many buyers are watching the listing, and a history of bids.

This is honestly a very?affordable listing fee, but it's enough to help keep out sellers who aren't serious and it reduces the number of scams.

Now, you also pay a success fee if you end up selling the website that's based on the total value of the sale.

Success fees are:

• Up to $50,000 – Pay a 10% fee.
• $50,000 to $100,000 – Pay a 7.5% fee.
• $100,000+?– Pay a 5% fee.

You can also deal with a partner broker and pay a 15% fee if you want to take the stress out of selling.

When it comes to making your listing, it's important to include as much information as possible to help buyers make informed decisions.

Thankfully, Flippa makes it pretty easy.

As mentioned, sellers can list a lot of information to describe the reason for selling, traffic, revenue, and future growth opprtunities.

You can also attached reports in your listing, which is a nice way to compile KPI data to share with potential buyers.

Is Flippa Safe?

Let me start out by saying that?you can get scammed doing almost anything in this world.

Buying or selling websites on Flippa is no different, and that's why the main rule with using Flippa is that you?have to use common sense.

According to Flippa, the platform keeps sellers and buyers safe by:

• Having a marketplace security team.
• Marking trustworthy memebrs as super buyers and sellers.
• Implementing identity verification.
• Allowing PayPal, wire transfer, and an escrow service for payment.

All of this bodes well, and Flippa is a safe marketplace.

However,?you can still get scammed?if you don't do your research.

Flippa makes payment processing and the overall exchange process safe, but you still need to do your own research.

Does the website use a PBN? Is organic traffic tanking? Is a new piece of upcoming legislation going to destroy the revenue model of the website?

Is Website Flipping Better Than Domain Flipping For Side Hustlers?

Yes, I think it is.

And, it sounds odd but most people don’t flip at all.

They don’t build to sell, they build to thrive. In fact, the average asset sold on Flippa is just over 4 years old.

Websites and online businesses are a more predictable side hustle. Value is easier to predict. They are assessed on performance rather than more arbitrary or ‘personal’ assessments.

I wouldn’t think of it in the context of a ‘flip’.

I would think of it from a demand standpoint.

There’s currently more demand for blogs supported by ad revenue and this is because they are perceived as being more consistent in performance, more reliable, and with less operational costs.

When Should Someone Start Buyig & Selling Websites?

If someone is looking to create a website to flip they would need to have the skills to build a compelling site with value.

By creating value, I mean something that operates in a niche where there is substantial customer demand and where the site has proven that it can attract customers and either transact or attract advertising dollars.

If they are looking to assist first time website owners than these are termed ‘Starter Sites’ and in this case, a Flippa customer is looking for a business in a box, something that has a good domain, a nice unique design, is setup from a sales standpoint and enables them to essentially ‘switch it on’ and run.

The key thing to recognise is that buyers pay for performance and look for opportunity.

Therefore, the best sites are those with a strong trading history and areas for improvement.

Flippa Alternatives

I'd like to thank Ben for taking the time to share why buyers and sellers should consider sticking with Flippa.

I've considered aquiring a smaller website in the past, and frankly, I'm probably going to end up using Flippa just because of the volume of listings.

However, this wouldn't be a fair review without mentioning some other websites like Flippa.

Popular options include:

• Motion Invest – A newer player in the world of website aquisition, but one that is growing in popularity. I've heard pretty good things about Motion Invest and am even on their mailing list to get news of when new blogs hit the market.
• Empire Flippers – One of the main Flippa competitors. The main difference I spot is that Flippa has more volume but Empire Flippers has more expensive listings and isn't ideal for starter sites.
• Exchange Marketplace – This is Shopify's own marketplace where you can easily buy and sell existing ecommerce businesses at a healthy range of prices.

Ultimately, your budget and goals will play a massive role in which marketplace you use.

Additionally, there's always the option of dealing with independent website brokers, but you'll have to pay more for the luxury!

Flippa Pros & Cons

If you're still uncertain about using Flippa, consider some of the pros and cons of using one of the most popular marketplaces in the business:

The main advantages of Flippa include:

• A wide variety of websites, including different niches and price points.
• Range of listings – apps, domains, websites, ecommerce businesses!
• Easy to use.
• Some security features in place to reduce scams, such as Google Analytics traffic reports and identity verification.

Flippa Cons

Despite the advantages, some of Flippa's downsides include:

• There?are still scams! You need to use your brain and do some serious research before buying on Flippa since people can still skew revenue numbers and hide problems.
• Some sellers are difficult, which could be an indication of a scam or simply an inexperienced, stubborn seller.

One popular way to make some money with Amazon is by building your own Amazon affiliate website. And, the Amazon Affiliate Program is quite simple.

With an Amazon Affiliate website, you get paid to promote many of the millions of products for sale at Amazon by creating links within your site that send readers to make a purchase. If someone purchases that product or any other product from Amazon within 24 hours, you earn commission.

To make money with Amazon affiliates, you generally need to create a niche website. Usually, Amazon Affiliate websites take on the role of reviewing products or creating shopping guides for buyers.

Retail arbitrage hustlers take advantage of moments when a certain store has an overstock and needs to move inventory for a lower price. Then, they resell their products on Amazon to turn a profit.

Generally, retail arbitrage sellers focus on popular products and categories like:

• Apparel
• Books
• Electronics
• Jewelry and watches
• Home goods

Again, you need to find products on sale to turn a profit in most cases. But with enough inventory, you can make considerable income.

Did you know that more than 50% of items sold on Amazon now come from third party sellers and not Amazon itself?

Amazon is making it easier for merchants across the world to access Ecommerce. A large part of this is thanks to the Amazon FBA Program.

The Amazon FBA program makes it easy for Amazon sellers to conduct their business without having to worry about handling merchandise.

Once you’re in the FBA program, you can begin adding products to the Amazon catalog and create your product listings. Then, you ship products to Amazon warehouses and have them handle customer purchases from there. 

Using Amazon FBA gives you the benefits of Amazon’s quality customer service. Your customers will be drawn to the Amazon 2-day shipping with Prime membership as well. 

You do pay something to store your items in their warehouses, and fees for other optional services may apply. However, if your merchandise sells regularly, the FBA program is an incredibly effective way to make money on Amazon and to remove logistical headaches.

5. Amazon Private Labeling

Here’s another idea for making money on Amazon: start an Amazon FBA Private Label business. 

If you want to market products that are made by a third-party manufacturer, sold under a brand name, and are fulfilled by Amazon, this is for you. 

People who use private labeling to earn from Amazon also mix in quite a bit of retail arbitrage to turn a profit. Usually, this involves buying cheap merchandise from websites like Alibaba in mass quantities, and then marking the product up under a ‘new' brand on Amazon.

In this above example, you can see this nifty garlic crusher is going for $1.31 per unit on orders of 2,000 or more.

At the risk of having your garage full of hundreds of garlic crushers for the rest of your life, you could theoretically buy this product in bulk and then resell it on Amazon under your private label brand.

This is way harder than it sounds, of course. Amazon is ridiculously competitive.

Do your research to find out what kinds of products are likely to sell and produce a worthwhile return on investment for the risk.

6. Kindle Direct Publishing

If you’re an expert in a particular area or have a creative idea for an ebook, you can try Kindle Direct Publishing to earn money on Amazon. 

Writing e-books is a flexible income-earning opportunity since you can literally write about pretty much any topic. You might choose fiction or nonfiction, and there are a ton of directions to go in from that point.

A friend of mine is really into historical trivia, so he’s published several books on Kindle. It’s a great side gig for him (he’s a lawyer and estate planner by trade). 

Publishing your ebook on Kindle Direct Publishing is fairly quick and painless. Your book will also appear in Kindle stores within 24-48 hours. 

Now, of course, you have to market your book successfully in order to make money from it. However, if you already have a blog with a decent number of followers, that’s a fantastic platform for advertising your book. 

E-book writing isn’t easy by any means, but it’s definitely easier than going through a traditional publisher. Anyone can create passive income with this route since the more books you produce, the greater your potential income.

7. Work For Amazon MTurk

Amazon Mechanical Turk, or MTurk, lets you make money on Amazon by doing simple tasks a human is better suited for than a machine.

The different Amazon business lines you could work for in a warehouse include:

• Fulfillment center: The bulk of shipping work. Full-time, set schedules.
• Sorting center: Requires sorting products between trucks and the warehouse. Part-time opportunities, 16-24+ hours per week.
• Delivery station: The final frontier before packages are sent out for delivery. 15-25 hours per week, overnight or early morning.
• Prime Now: The super fast, 2 hour or less delivery service. Flexible 3-4 hour shifts.
• Prime Pantry: Snacks, beauty supplies, and household goods. Full-time scheduling.
• AmazonFresh: Amazon's grocery delivery service. Mostly part-time up to 29 hours per week.

Warehouse work is typically very physically demanding, with long hours on your feet, so keep this requirement in mind.

There are plenty of ways to make money programming. But, while many programmers try their hand at making and monetizing apps on the Google Play store or IOS store, the Amazon mobile app marketplace is still an option.

11. Use Amazon Merch

Amazon Merch may be a great way to make money on Amazon for anyone with graphic design skills.

On Amazon Merch, you simply upload your designs to the site, select the products you want them to be applied to, and set a listing price. 

Amazon Merch then provides the marketplace to sell your designed products (such as T-shirts or mugs). Amazon handles the production, shipping, and customer service for you. It's basically Amazon's version of a print on demand service.

Using Amazon Merch enables you to get your designs in front of millions of potential customers, all of whom could order using Amazon Prime to get free 2-day shipping.

Like other POD businesses, this is tough business. You need to have great designs, the right pricing, a solid niche, and the ability to promote your stuff.

But, if you create eye-catching designs, Amazon Merch can turn into a nice source of autopilot income for you.

Vine members get all sorts of merchandise, including homegoods, electronics, food, and apparel. Overall, it's the most legit way to make money writing Amazon reviews.

The downside is that the program is invitation-only. If you want to get paid to write reviews, start leaving them on Amazon regularly to increase the odds you get invited.

15. Join the Amazon Influencer Program

Influencer marketing has been all the rage the past few years, and it seems Amazon is finally getting on the bandwagon.

If you have a qualifying YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram account, you’re eligible to join the Amazon Influencer program to earn money. 

With Amazon Influencer, you choose your preferred social media platform and then create your own page with a vanity URL. That’s where you’ll share the products on Amazon that you love and recommend. 

This is different than making money with an Amazon affiliate website. The Influencer program lets you create your own storefront that is solely Amazon-related, and you can use different social channels to promote it.

The program lets professional contractors find local cash gigs by offering their services through the Amazon App.

Contractors can also view job offers in their area that are curated by Amazon and choose gigs that fit their schedule or expertise.

Electricians, HVAC specialists, plumbers, and general contractors will need to show proof of certification or licensing in order to operate through Amazon Services. However, the signup process is pretty straightforward. 

There is no signup fee, no subscription fee, and no lead generation fee for contractors. Amazon takes 15% to 20% based on the type of service offered and the total dollar value.

18. Work As A Prime Now Shopper

Thanks to Amazon's grocery delivery service, it's possible to make money with Amazon by shopping for groceries at Whole Foods.
